This week we’re featuring art from Rowan, 5. Rowan had a dream that Chirp, Tweet and Squawk had to rescue the Squid King from jail. When she woke up, she drew this picture.
“The squid king found a ladder. And then he told Chirp, Tweet, and Squawk that that would be a way to save him but then it was covered in thorns. But the easy news was that they could climb up the thorns or they could cut down the thorns with their swords.”
Awesome artwork, Rowan! And what a cool dream.

Do you like classic-style RPGs with a twist? Then you might want to check out Undertale, an indie game that’s been taking the RPG world by storm.
Check out OWL reader Fiona’s review below to find out if Undertale is for you.
Undertale is a classic-style RPG computer game that involves puzzles, fights and making friends. I personally enjoyed the classic RPG style of the game and the incredible soundtrack. The only thing that bothered me about this game is the fact that the main character itself’s walk speed is too slow sometimes. It can take a long time to get from one area to another. I think that kids my age would like to play Undertale because of its incredible characters and the connections and bonds the player makes with each. I would give this game a rating of 9.5/10 because it is nearly flawless, but there are a few things that take away from the game such as the lack of detail in some of the art.
Thanks for the review, Fiona! What do you think, readers? Undertale is available on Steam here.
Yippee, it’s a holiday! It’s the Victoria Day Long Weekend. But do you know what we’re celebrating? What is May 24, really?
It’s Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday. But only kind of.
Queen Elizabeth was born on April 21, but her official birthday is on May 24. Kings and queens in Britain, where the Queen lives, usually have two birthdays: one just for them and their families, and a second one for the public. That’s what May 24 is: Queen Elizabeth II’s second birthday.
Two birthdays sounds pretty great, right? It gets better: in Britain, the Queen’s official birthday is in June. That brings the birthday count up to three. SO MANY BIRTHDAYS.
You may have heard that today is Queen Victoria’s birthday. That’s also true! Queen Victoria actually was born on May 24, all the way back in 1819. That’s where this holiday gets its official name, Victoria Day.
But at the end of the day (literally! Ha ha!), we’re just here for the fireworks. If you don’t get fireworks in your area, you can check out a cool fireworks vid below:
How do you celebrate May 24, readers? Let us know in the comments!
