Well, it looks like both Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie Sam and Ontario’s Wiarton Willie did not see their shadows today. According to folklore, that means spring will come early this year. In some places in Canada, it already seems like spring is here because of the above normal temperatures!

Are you feeling silly today? Try this trick on your friends and family!

You’ll need:

Paper and pen

What to do:

Tell your friends you can make a pear disappear!

1. Write PEAR on a sheet of paper and show it to your friends.

2. Then write DISAP in front of PEAR.

3. Hold up your sheet of paper again. You’ve made PEAR disappear, just like you promised!

Today is Australia Day! In the November 2010 issue, we took chickaDEE readers on a journey to Australia. The issue was packed with cool Aussie facts, animals, stories, puzzles and games. We even showed you a recipe for Fairy Bread, a very special treat that Aussie children eat on their birthdays! Here’s the recipe again:

1. Take a slice of fresh white bread.

2. Spread a layer of butter or margarine on top.

3. Add colourful sprinkles.

4. Cut into triangles and share with a friend!

For a healthier version, you can replace the white bread with whole wheat bread and the sprinkles with dried fruit!
