And the Winners are…

Hey all! A while back I posted the first ever contest on the OWL blog. I asked you to email and let me know what you’re doing to help the environment this summer. Here are the five super-inspiring winning ideas!

NAME: Hayden R.
IDEA: “I help the environment by trying not to drive places, not littering, and also conserving energy. I think everyone should pitch in to help the environment!”

NAME: Gaelen P.
IDEA: “Here’s what my family and I are doing to go green: composting all of the leftover foods from meals so it can turn into a very nutritious topsoil for plants. We’re also sorting garbage from recycling, and reusing as much that can be reused for the better of the planet, and our home. My family cares for our planet!”

NAME: Naomi
IDEA: “Every morning I take a shower about 3-5 minutes long so I can’t waste any water. I’m always walking to places like school and the library. My family is always trying to recycle and put garbage in the right place.”

NAME: Gabba
IDEA: “I will help out the environment by recycling cans and plastic at the returnables centre, and also recycle them all summer long!”

NAME: Monika K.
IDEA: “My environment idea is to go to all of the parks closest to my home and pick up the garbage for a month. I will also put up signs saying to not be a litterbug and give your environment a hug. I hope that this will help the environment a little and I hope that if everyone on Earth helps with cleaning up and not littering, then maybe global warming will stop (hopefully in a couple of years)!”
