Art!: The Movie
Quick question: who here likes Captain Underpants? What about Ook and Gluk, Kung-Fu Cavemen? Some of you? Lots of you? Well, if you’re a fan of either of those cool books, then you’re definitely into the work of Dav Pilkey, the illustrator of both of them.
Pilkey has a new series out and it’s called Super Diaper Baby. It’s for slightly younger readers, but the art is classic Pilkey. Long story short, I just saw a YouTube video of the artist drawing the cover for the second book in the series (which comes out this summer) and wanted to share it with you.
Check it out:

Awesome, huh? I loved drawing when I was younger, but haven’t really kept the skills up, so it’s always fascinating to me how pictures, comics, and, in this case, covers are created. It’s really cool to see all the stages (rough pencil, paint, ink, colour, etc.) all in a row like that, too.
What do you think about this video, blog readers? Let me know in the comments below!
Also: art! Gotta love it.
