School Morning Tips and Tricks
Hi Owlkids Family!
It’s that time of year again and mornings are getting busier and busier as we adjust to back-to-school routines. Here are 10 tips to keep mornings running smoothly for the whole family!
Stick with a regular bedtime schedule (even on weekends) so wake-ups happen on time. Kids 6 to 13 need about 9-11 hours of sleep a night.
Play music in the morning to make routines more fun. Morning dances to family playlists are the best!
Plan and lay out an outfit the night before.
Get kids involved with preparing and packing lunches, even if it’s just adding in the snack. Prepare what you can the night before.
Keep keys, school documents, homework, backpacks, and anything else you might need, in the same place all the time so they are easy to find in the morning.
Check bike tires or car gas levels the night before to avoid morning setbacks.
Create a morning checklist so kids can feel proud of their responsibilities.
Eat a high protein breakfast so kids stay full and focused.
Take a bit of time to connect as a family. It could be as simple as making breakfast or lunch together, saying one thing you’re each looking forward to that day, or just a quick hug.
Try to keep it positive even when things don’t work out according to plan (because they often won’t!).
Happy back-to-school, everyone!
