Book Review: Alis the Aviator
Alis the Aviator, written by Danielle Metcalfe-Chenail and illustrated by Kalpna Patel, is a book about airplanes that has just landed in bookstores. We asked Violet, 8, and June, 6, to tell us what they thought of this book. Check it out!
Alis the Aviator is a children’s ABC book about different kinds of air transportation. The main character is Alis, who is based on Dr. Alis Kennedy, the first Canadian indigenous woman to get her pilot’s license. This is a unique book because the illustrator didn’t just use a pencil or pencil crayons, she used different coloured paper glued together so it would make the pictures. I like that the little girl Alis grows up throughout the book and that she has her dog or her best friend in almost every picture. I would recommend this book to kids who are interested in transportation or planes.
Thanks for the review, Violet and June! Do you love airplanes, readers? Leave a comment below!
