Book Review: The Boundless
We’re big fans of Canadian author Kenneth Oppel, so we asked OWL reader Kishal to review his new book, The Boundless. Here’s what she had to say!
Filled with sasquatches and tight-rope walkers, this adventure, though slow-paced, will capture your attention by the end for sure! The Boundless, the world’s longest train, is built by the best and will take you on a journey of excitement and wonder. Visiting stops all across Canada and carrying passengers from ringmasters to thieves, this train is full of secrets and surprises. William Everett, son of the new railway owner and successor to the great Cornelius Van Horne, is cascaded with riches his once-poor family could never have imagined. But is Will actually suited to an easy life of no work and fancy clothing? What happens when he meets a murderer and a girl who he hasn’t seen for three years? Whisked away from first class to the caboose, Will takes what seems like an endless path to the front of the train miles away. Disguises, elephants, and joining a circus are all part of his trip back. Although a bit boring at first, gradual progression will bring the book to an amazing finale! 8.5/10
Thanks for your review, Kishal! This books sounds like one to add to our summer reading list.
