The narwhal is the Animal of the Month in the December issue of chickaDEE!
Did you know that narwhals spend up to five months under sea ice? Here are some other cool facts about these creatures!
Narwhals can dive 1.5 miles (2.4 km) deep in the ocean.
They change colour as they get older! Baby narwhals are blue-gray, young-adults are blue-black, adults are light gray and old narwhals are mostly white.
The narwhal’s tusk is actually a large tooth! This tooth can grow to be taller than an adult basketball player!

Ancient Egyptians believed the Sacred Ibis represented Thoth, the god of wisdom.
This bird uses it’s long, curved beak to dig in the mud for food.
It lives in large groups, called colonies.
The sacred ibis is usually quiet, but will sometimes make croaking or grunting sounds.
