chickaDEE Magazine is looking for your questions! It can be about anything at all. Do you ever wonder why the sky is blue? Or why elephants have trunks?
(You can find the answer to these questions on page 26 of the April issue!)
Send us an email with your question or send us a letter in the mail. You can even leave a comment below.
Tomorrow is the first day of spring! Spring is my favourite time of the year. I love watching the cherry blossom trees bloom in the park, wearing a light jacket instead of a big parka, smelling the fresh air and so much more!

Here are some spring-inspired activities to celebrate the season!
Take a tour of your town. After being stuck inside all winter long, you may have forgotten that there’s fun to be had in your own town or city! Grab some family members, a map and a camera and get touring!
Check out your local farmer’s market! See what’s in season right now at your farmer’s market, then help your family prepare a feast using the fresh produce.
Welcome back your feathered friends. Many birds are coming back from their warm rest in the south. Invite them to your own backyard by hanging a bird feeder.
Get peddling. It’s time to take those bikes out of storage! Hop on and go for a family bike ride.
How do you celebrate spring? Let us know in the comments below!
I just went to an amazing exhibit called the TIFF Kids digiPlaySpace at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto! Here are a few of the activities I got to test out.
Painting with lights!
This activity is called Water Light Graffiti. Can you imagine painting with water and lights? Well, that’s exactly what I got to do! The exhibit is made up of thousands of LEDs that shine brightly when you touch them with water. I could have ‘painted’ all day!
Those balls aren’t moving on their own!
Head into the TIFF Kids Micro Makers’ Space to race robotic balls with a remote control! Here at Sphero Speedway, you can race these colour-changing balls around a virtual racetrack.
Video game without the video!
In this same space, you can find the Video Sans-Video Game (or video game without the video!) That’s right, no screen needed! For this game, players control a hand-made videogame using numbers to get through hand-drawn levels while avoiding obstacles and enemies to get to the finish.
A 3D printer at work!
If you’ve never seen a 3-D printer at work, you’ll definitely want to check out this station! This printer is fed information about an object from the computer. Once the info is received, the printer goes to work making the object. All of the little items you see on the table were made by this printer!
The TIFF Kids digiPlaySpace will run from March 8th to April 21st the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. If you live in the area and are looking for something to do for March Break, be sure to check it out! You can get more details about the event by clicking HERE.
If you’re in the Toronto area on Sunday, March 2nd, come visit chickaDEE at the Art Gallery of Ontario!
From 1pm to 4pm in the Weston Family Learning Centre, you can make shadow puppets inspired by the AGO collections, take family friendly tours, compete in an “Around the World of the AGO” race, and more! There will be chickaDEE activity bags for the first 400 people, and our good friend Chirp will also be visiting!
