Reminder: Invent a Game Contest

Hi readers,

If you haven’t already, remember to send in your entries to the Invent a Game Contest!

It’s easy! All you have to do is invent your own active game.

Here’s an example:
Everyone sits in a circle, and each person is given a colour name. The leader shouts out two colours. Those people have to jump up and run around the circle. The first one back gets to call out the next two colours.

One grand-prize winner will receive a Snakes and Ladders game from www.mygiantgames.com, plus a chance to have his/her game featured as part of the ParticipACTION Bring Back Play app.

Celebrate Your Favourite Activities During Hobby Month!

Hey Readers!

Did you know January is “hobby” month? A hobby is something you like to do during your free time. It could be anything from playing with trains to painting and drawing to playing or watching a favourite sport.

Hobbies are a great way to make friends and try something new. To celebrate, here is a list of some popular hobbies:

Sports: From swimming to hockey, soccer or dance, sports are a great way to be active and learn teamwork.

Music: Learning a musical instrument can be hard, but it is awesome when you learn your first song.

Art: Drawing, painting, sculpting, or knitting are great hobbies you can do year round. Plus, you can share your art with friends and family.

Collecting: This is the easiest hobby to start. You can collect comic books, rocks, stamps, seashells, coins, stickers, or or animal figures. The sky’s the limit!

Reading: It may seem like a hobby you do alone, but the best part of reading is sharing it with others. Start a book club with your friends and talk about your favourite books.
