Movie Review: Ferdinand

Hi there readers,

In case you haven’t heard, 20th Century Fox released a new movie called Ferdinand. 

Our hero in this movie is…you guessed it, Ferdinand! He is a young bull with a big heart who lives in Spain. He enjoys sniffing flowers and making new friends but he’s got a bit of a problem. All the other animals keep telling him he should want to go to Madrid and fight for glory in the Plaza de Toro (bullring), not sniff flowers.

When Ferdinand’s dad doesn’t return from a fight, he runs away and finds a new family who lives on a farm. Sadly, his new life comes crashing down when he’s mistaken for a dangerous beast and is returned to his former home. There he has to fight El Primero, the famous bullfighter who never loses. Determined not to fight, Ferdinand rallies a misfit team and sets out on an ultimate adventure to return to his new home on the farm.

The characters here will show you how friendship and love can be some of the best things you can give and why it is important to never let anyone else define who or what you are.

Movie Review: Coco

Hi readers,

You may have heard about Disney-Pixar’s newest movie Coco. I got to see a sneak preview of this movie! I absolutely love animated movies so this was amazing for me to see. I had high expectations for it and it met every one of them.

The main character is Miguel, a young boy who is trying to follow his dreams and find the part of him that’s missing. For generations, his family put a ban on music but Miguel could never let go of his love for it. In a desperate attempt to prove he is meant to play music, he ends up in the beautiful and amazing Land of the Dead. He meets a cunning fellow named Hector and after quickly becoming friends, they go on what can only be described as an incredible journey that leads them to the reason Miguel’s family is so against music, and why he’s not. The characters do more than just make you laugh and tear up. They teach you about the importance of family, love, friendship and why it’s so important to be confident and follow your dreams.

This movie hits cinema’s on Wednesday, November 22nd.

Move Review: Cars 3

Hi readers,

Have you seen any of the Disney-Pixar Cars movies? They’re so much fun. And this latest movie, Cars 3, is pretty amazing, too! Lightning McQueen is back and he has to be faster than ever to win against hot new race car Jackson Storm. Lightning gets a personal coach named Cruz and together they hit to the road to train for the next race. There are tons of fast cars zipping and zooming around the screen as there were in the first two movies but this latest Cars movie also includes strong characters and great life lessons. As they zoom through their training adventures, both Lightning and Cruz don’t just learn about racing, they learn a lot about themselves, about what it means to find your inner racer and even more importantly, about the joy that comes with letting others find theirs, too.

Movie Review: Finding Dory

Hi readers,

I bet you’ve heard about Disney Pixar’s newest movie, Finding Dory. It’s the sequel to one of my favourite movies of all time, Finding Nemo, so I was super happy when I got to see it a few days early. I loved it, and you probably will, too!

Dory is a fish who suffers from short-term memory loss. This means she’s very forgetful, and she can’t remember her past. But then one day, a tiny memory comes to her: she has parents! And she misses them! So she sets off on an adventure across the ocean to find them. But adventures are tough for fish who can’t remember very well. If she wants to find her family, she’ll have to make new friends and come up with creative ways to solve problems.

Finding Dory is about friendship, family and never giving up, and it’s great for all ages. You can watch the trailer below:

NOTE: This movie might be confusing for people who’ve never seen Finding Nemo. I suggest you watch Finding Nemo first, then head to the theatre for Finding Dory.

Movie Review: The Good Dinosaur

Hi readers,

Have you heard about Pixar’s newest movie, The Good Dinosaur? I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek in theatres, and I really think you’ll like this one!

The main character is Arlo, a scaredy-cat dinosaur who lives on a farm with his family until he falls into a river and gets swept away to a place he’s never been before. It’s scary being lost, but Arlo makes friends with a little boy named Spot who helps him get past his fear. Arlo and Spot work together to try to get back home, making new friends as they go.

This is an adventure tale, so there are some scary parts that may not be suitable for some viewers. But if you like cute stories about friendship and facing your fears, you should definitely watch The Good Dinosaur.
