Movie Review: Born To Be Wild IMAX 3D

Hi Animal Lovers!

I just saw this great movie called Born to Be Wild 3D. It’s a documentary about two awesome women who have been working to save orphaned elephants and orangutans in Kenya and Borneo. Although parts of this movie are sad, it was still great to see how the animals had been rescued and given new families and a new chance at life. I learned just how much animals are like us (Baby orangutans love being hugged! And baby elephants can kick soccer balls!) and about how important it is to protect animal habitats here in Canada and all over the world. Check out a preview for Born to Be Wild here:

It was so cool to see this movie in 3D because it actually feels like you can reach out and touch the animals! Now I think I love baby elephants more than ever. What is your favourite baby animal? Send us a comment!

Movie Review: HOP

Hi Readers and Parents,

Heading to the theatre with your family? HOP just might be one to watch!

This animated/live-action movie follows two characters: Young E.B., a rabbit destined to be the next Easter Bunny, and a human slacker named Fred. E.B. is unsure about taking the high-pressure Easter Bunny job. He thinks me might even like to be a drummer instead of the Easter Bunny. And Fred is unsure about taking any job, much to the disappointment of his family. When the two characters meet, hilarity ensues. After a few comedic missteps, Fred and E.B. form a strong friendship and learn from each other. But more importantly, each character learns just what they are capable of when they set out to pursue their dreams.

Good stuff:

HOP features some of the cutest animated bunnies you will ever see! And it enforces a great message about pursuing your dreams/accepting people for who they truly are. The comedic pacing is good, providing enough slapstick, singing and dancing to keep both children and parents entertained. The film also provides opportunities to talk about its messages (good and bad), as well as to discuss how Easter is portrayed in the film vs. how you may or may not celebrate it in your own house.

Stuff to watch out for:

HOP is rated PG for some crude humour and comedic violence. Some of the language, concepts and jokes are aimed mainly at adult viewers, and will likely go over most young viewer’s heads. However, be aware that some of the evil characters spout insults like “jerk” and “idiot” and there are a couple of scary scenes in which E.B. is in danger. And of course, there are lots of references to candy.
