Did you know tomorrow is the first day of summer? To celebrate, ask an adult to help you decorate your flip flops. Glue on pom-poms, buttons, flowers, plastic bugs, or whatever you can think of. Let the glue dry. Then beat the heat in your own super style.
Do you have plans for Father’s Day this Sunday? My two kids are hoping to make this a Father’s Day to remember. Here are some of our ideas:
Surprise Dad or Grandpa with choco-cinnamon toast. Mix a pinch of cinnamon with a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of cocoa. Sprinkle some on hot, buttered toast.
Plan Dad’s Day Out. Think of something you can do together, like going to a park or the beach, and draw a picture of your dream day in a card.
Personalize a T-shirt or barbecue apron. With a grown-up’s help, use fabric paint to make your own pictures and designs.
What are your Father’s Day ideas? Post a comment or send them in: chirpblog@owlkids.com.
Is it hot where you live? Summer is almost here, and we’re celebrating the warm weather with an issue all about deserts. Meet a bunch of desert animals, make your own sandy picture and tell a story with Chirp’s silly story cards. I’d love to read your stories or see a picture of your sand art. Send them to me at chirpblog@owlkids.com. I can’t wait!
I’m going to be away for a while because I’m having a baby. While I’m gone my friend Katherine will be helping to make Chirp Magazine every month. Let’s get to know Katherine!
Jackie: Do you have a nickname?
Katherine: My sister and some of my friends call me “Birdie”!
Jackie: What is the best part about coming to work at Chirp Magazine?
Katherine: I can’t wait to see all the letters and drawings that readers send in.
Jackie: What is your favourite colour?
Katherine: Blue!
There, now you know a little bit about the new Chirp editor and you can ask her more questions any time just by commenting on this page or by sending her an email at chirp@owlkids.com.
