1) Go berry picking. There are tons of berry farms out there to choose from. My favourite berries to pick are strawberries!
2) Play in a sprinkler. Who says you need a pool to have a splashing good time? Sprinklers are a great way to cool down and have fun.
3) Stroll through the park. I love watching the critters who live there while I’m walking through.
4) Go for a bike ride. It’s the best way to get around during the summer! It’s also great exercise and good for the planet.
5) Make popsicles. Just freeze some fruit juice inside a popsicle mold for a yummy and refreshing treat!

OWL photo researcher Tracey was busy this week in the kitchen with her daughter Sammy.
Not only did they bake up a storm of cupcakes, they found a way to make them burgalicious.
Check out the pics, they look so cool!
Burger cupcakes
Totally burgalicious!
Here’s what Tracey said about her cupcake extravaganza:
“Sammy and I had a great time making these! It took a while because we had to bake two batches of cupcakes (one vanilla and one chocolate). The decorating was the best part though, especially when we added the final touch, which was the sesame seeds. We were so excited to see our little creations, and can’t wait to make them again.”
Nice work, Tracey and Sammy!

Super Shoe Relay
1) Everyone takes off their shoes and mixes them into a pile.
2) Make a starting line with a jump rope, then have everyone get on their mark.
3) Have a parent yell “Go!”. Everyone runs to the pile and puts on their shoes. The player to make it back to the starting line first wins!
Hot Potato, Wet Potato!
1) Soak a sponge in water. The sponge is the potato.
2) Everyone sits in a circle.
3) Ask a parent to play some music. As the music plays, pass the potato around the circle.
4) When the music is stopped, the player holding the potato is out. The last player to hold the sponge when the music stops wins!
After you’re done playing, why not cool off with a refreshing drink? Add all kinds of fruit to a pitcher of water. Keep it in the fridge for a few hours, then enjoy!
