Movie Review: Christopher Robin

Hey readers,

Disney’s latest live-action film, Christopher Robin, is here and just as cute as you might imagine!

When Winnie the Pooh loses all his friends – Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo – he goes into the big city to find his old pal, Christopher Robin. With Christopher’s help, the gang is brought back together and all is perfect. Or is it?

While looking for everyone, Winnie the Pooh notices that Christopher has changed— he’s all grown up now! He has a job, a family, a home and sadly, no time for play. As Christopher heads back to his busy life, Winnie and the gang decide it’s up to them to help Christopher rediscover what it’s like to have fun!

Here’s what I think about the movie:

1. It’s adorable. Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger will tug at your heart throughout the movie. You can try to fight it but just like me, you’ll have no choice but to smile and say “awww”.
2. The message is awesome. In today’s world, where schedules are so easily filled up with all the responsibilities we have to handle, it’s easy to forget to take in all the beauty around us. Watching Winnie the Pooh remind Christopher of that was a nice breath of fresh air.

Movie Review: Incredibles 2

The movie we’ve all been waiting for is finally here!

Incredibles 2 picks up right where the original, The Incredibles left off. Our super family is out fighting crime and saving the day as usual. There’s just one problem. The city made it illegal to be a superhero. That’s right, the Incredibles family now has to hide their powers and live like a normal family.

When a new villain with an evil plan wreaks havoc on the city, Elastigirl springs into action to save the day while Mr. Incredible stays home to take care of the kids.

Here are my thoughts on the movie:

1. You might find yourself laughing out loud. I had no choice but to burst out laughing at all the wacky things happening in the movie. Jack-Jack exploring his new powers was one of the funniest things the family had to deal with.
2. There are also some great lessons in the movie. As the Incredibles fight to make it legal to be a superhero, you get to see the importance of fighting for what is right.

Movie Review: Pandas

Hi, readers!

The movie Pandas follows the incredible story of Qian Qian, a panda born in captivity, and its release into the wild. With the help of Chinese and American scientists, Qian Qian learns how to get in touch with her animal instincts. Along the way, awesome friendships are made, too. Check out the trailer and then read my review below!

I thought this movie was amazing! I really liked the scenes when Ben (the biologist who rehabilitates orphaned black bears in the U.S.) and Rong Hu (the scientist from Chengdu Panda Base in China) go into the forest in New Hampshire to meet the black bears he has helped. It was so heartwarming to see people who live at opposite ends of the world work together to help animals thrive. And of course, it was so adorable to see little pandas play! The movie captured panda cubs going down slides, climbing trees, wrestling and more. I fell in love with Qian Qian and her journey to find her wild side! Near the end, I was nervous for Qian Qian but all turns out well for the lovable panda. This movie is definitely a must-see for animal lovers.

I got the chance to speak to the co-director of Pandas, Drew Fellman, and asked him about his favourite parts of the movie. Read his answer below!

chickaDEE: What are your favourite moments in the movie Pandas?

Drew: I love all the little scenes with the pandas, but perhaps the black bears even more! We spent a lot of time with the black bear cubs and even got to bottle feed them. I also love the scenes with the people. There’s a scene with Jake [one of the American scientists] and a girl in the village, and she’s trying to give him a high five. It’s a light moment of life that shows how engrained these guys are in the community there. I also love the shot of Qian Qian when she climbs down the tree and Jake puts his raincoat around her.

Movie Review: Ferdinand

Hi there readers,

In case you haven’t heard, 20th Century Fox released a new movie called Ferdinand. 

Our hero in this movie is…you guessed it, Ferdinand! He is a young bull with a big heart who lives in Spain. He enjoys sniffing flowers and making new friends but he’s got a bit of a problem. All the other animals keep telling him he should want to go to Madrid and fight for glory in the Plaza de Toro (bullring), not sniff flowers.

When Ferdinand’s dad doesn’t return from a fight, he runs away and finds a new family who lives on a farm. Sadly, his new life comes crashing down when he’s mistaken for a dangerous beast and is returned to his former home. There he has to fight El Primero, the famous bullfighter who never loses. Determined not to fight, Ferdinand rallies a misfit team and sets out on an ultimate adventure to return to his new home on the farm.

The characters here will show you how friendship and love can be some of the best things you can give and why it is important to never let anyone else define who or what you are.

Move Review: Cars 3

Hi readers,

Have you seen any of the Disney-Pixar Cars movies? They’re so much fun. And this latest movie, Cars 3, is pretty amazing, too! Lightning McQueen is back and he has to be faster than ever to win against hot new race car Jackson Storm. Lightning gets a personal coach named Cruz and together they hit to the road to train for the next race. There are tons of fast cars zipping and zooming around the screen as there were in the first two movies but this latest Cars movie also includes strong characters and great life lessons. As they zoom through their training adventures, both Lightning and Cruz don’t just learn about racing, they learn a lot about themselves, about what it means to find your inner racer and even more importantly, about the joy that comes with letting others find theirs, too.
