Hi Readers!
Have you ever been to a farmer’s market?
This week, the Chirp team went to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. We had so much fun tasting all the fresh food from Ontario farms, and it was great meeting some of the cute farm animals!
A horse of course.
Alpacas are so soft and fluffy!
Sleepy sheep!
Lots and lots of tomatoes!
We got to feed the goats.
My favourite part of the fair was meeting Freedom the llama. He was so nice!
Which animal from The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is your favourite? Comment on this post and let us know!
Talk to you soon,

Hello readers,
Only 12 more days until Halloween! We hope we put you in the spirit with the Halloween recipes in the October issue.
On page 16, we showed you how to make “A Frightening Feast.” The day of the photo shoot was a beautiful summer day in June. Yes, that’s right! Did you know we work on issues months in advance? That means we had to think up all the fun fall stuff while it was scorching hot outside. It also means that we had to make a summer day look like a spooky fall evening for the photo shoot. So get ready for a behind-the-scenes look at a chickaDEE photo shoot!
Here’s a sunny summer day…
Turned into a spooky scene!
Notice that the sky is darker and we added some eerie mist, too.

Hello readers!
On page 12 of the September issue, you’ll find this puzzle about an eco-friendly school.
Here are chickaDEE’s top 3 tips on how to help your school days be green!
1. Reuse paper.
This could mean using both sides of the paper or using scrap paper. Also make sure to recycle paper that you don’t need anymore instead of tossing it in the trash.
2. Turn off the lights.
Remind your friends to turn off the lights when there is no one left in the classroom. On bright and sunny days, ask your teacher if the lights can be turned off in the classroom.
3. Bring a litterless lunch.
Help your parents pack a lunch using only reusable containers. If not all of your containers are reusable, make sure you recycle whatever you can.
Do you have any more ideas on how to make your school a super green place? Leave a comment!
Talk to you next week!
