Challenge a Friend to a Soap Boat Race!
Check out this fun idea from Owlkids intern Sarah!
Hi readers,
Are you ready to try a fun activity? Grab your bathing suit and get ready for a soap boat race. On your mark, get set, GO!
Tip: Remember to ask an adult for help first.
You’ll Need:
- Construction paper
- Straw
- Scissors
- Bar of soap
- Tape
- Outdoor kiddie pool
- Hose
Making the Soap Boat:
- Use scissors to cut a triangle from the construction paper.
- Cut a straw in half.
- Tape the triangle to the straw.
- Stick the straw into your bar of soap.
The Race:
- Fill the kiddie pool with water and keep the hose running.
- Put your soap boat, and your friend’s soap boat into the pool.
- Watch them go and see who wins the race!
By keeping the hose running during the race, the water from the hose will push your soap boat from one end of the kiddie pool, to the other. The bar of soap floats on top of the water. The person who’s soap boat makes it to the other side of the kiddie pool first wins the race!
Who won your soap boat race? Tell us in the comments!
Bye for now,
-Sarah, chirpblog@owlkids.com
