chickaDEE Exclusive: Caroline Adderson Interview
Hey Readers,
Author Caroline Adderson wrote a story in December’s chickaDEE called The Winter Challenge. The story is about Sam and Gig, a brother-and-sister team, that compete in a winter adventure challenge. Here’s what Caroline had to say about the story:
Q: What was the story fun to write?
A: It was lots of fun to invent a winter challenge. I tried to imagine tasks that were quite ordinary, but could be turned into games, like snow shoveling. I also let my characters take over the story and find clever ways to succeed.
Q: What is it about stories around brothers and sisters that helps bring characters to life?
A: In stories, sometimes sisters and brothers are pinned against each other. Maybe Sam and Gigi fight a lot, too, but in this story they needed to work together to win the challenge. I like how at first Sam doubts they can succeed but by the end of the story he’s the one encouraging his sister.
Q: Would you ever enter a winter race? Why or why not?
A: I love contests. I would enter for sure!
