Cool to be Kind

November is Kindness Month. Here are some fun things you can do together!
- Send a card in the mail to a faraway friend or family member whom you miss or who might miss you.
- Leave a nice note or a drawing in a neighbour’s mailbox.
- Write positive messages like “You are an important part of this world!” on sticky notes and place them on bulletin boards around town (like in your local library, cafe, or an office building lobby).
- Take your dog (or a friend’s dog) on an extra long walk and give them a treat at the end of it.
- Donate a book, a toy, or a board game to a family in need.
- Volunteer at a local animal shelter, church, non-profit, or charity.
- Gather donations from family, friends, and neighbours and donate it to a charity that is meaningful to your family, or to a family who is new to Canada.
- If you are able, buy school supplies or craft store gift cards for your child(ren)’s teacher.
- Challenge everyone in the family to give at least three compliments to someone every day for one week.
- Let someone go in line ahead of you (if you have time).
And even though it’s amazing to be kind to others, taking care of our own physical and mental health is a very important and kind act. If anyone in your family or a family you know needs a help, check out local or provincial resources like this one for ideas.
Do you and your family do any kind acts or have resources that might inspire others? Share in the comment section below!
