CORRECTION: “Gulf Oil Spill: One Year Later”
The April issue of OWL is on newsstands and mailboxes all over, which means it’s high time I humbly apologise and point out a mistake we made in the issue.
In the “Gulf Oil Spill: One Year Later” story on page 12, we misspelled the last name of two kids whose awesome good deeds we discussed in the article. It should be Taylor and Peyton Horning (NOT “Horner”). Many apologies to Taylor and Peyton, and to all the other readers of OWL. We feel terrible about the error.
As we mentioned in the article, Taylor and Peyton are from Merrickville, Ontario. These super-cool sisters collected about 450 kg (1,000 lbs.) of hair to be used to make oil booms — long, sausage-like barriers that helped soak up the oil that spilled into the Gulf of Mexico last spring.
Also, it’s not just OWL that is recognizing the girls’ great work. They’ve been featured in stories in newspapers and online. Plus, their own member of provincial parliament, Steve Clark, recently recognized their efforts in a speech at the Ontario Legislature.
Check out the following YouTube clip to watch the speech:

Cool, huh? Kudos again to Taylor and Peyton Horning, and, once again, many apologies for the mistake.
Talk to you soon.
