From the OWL Vault: Olympic Edition!
How many of you were reading OWL in January 2006? Anyone? If you were, you would have caught an interview with an up-and-coming Canadian speed skater named Christine Nesbitt.
Why is that important now, you ask? Well, last night that one-time up-and-comer officially became an Olympic champion — she won gold in 1,000 metre long track speed skating. A few of us at the OWL office huddled around my computer like proud parents and watched her race. One more thing about that: it was awesome.
Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy a blast from the past. So click here
to download a PDF of OWL’s interview with Christine from the January/February 2006 issue.
Enjoy!

The manga-style Alex and Charlie reminds me of the anime “K-ON!” because they are in a band.
Are the Japanese characters on Alex’s shirt the Japanese characters for the number 49?
Hey Katie(the author)! I’m happy you pointed out the manga style in the “Alex and Charlie” this month â we had a lot of fun with it! The Japanese characters on Alex’s shirt are for the number 42. Her regular number! Cool, huh?
Sigh, I wish I was reading OWL in 2006, but I was 8, so I was reading ChickaDee.
Sorry, I meant 42, not 49. Then I was right!!! Yay!!!
