From the OWL Vault: OWL Character Contest
STOP THE PRESSES! In the June issue of OWL, we printed a puzzle called the “OWL History Board Game.” For those who didn’t see it, each space on the board featured a cool fact about OWL’s past. For instance, one of the spaces stated the following:
2001: A new OWL character is created. Sadly, he doesn’t last. MOVE BACK 1 SPACE.
After you move back one space, I have even more info to share on this subject. I’ll wait. (I’m WAITING, blog readers…!)
Okay? Okay. When the new OWL character (pictured above, by the way) was introduced there was also a contest to name him. However, he disappeared from the mag before ever getting a name. The current OWL team didn’t even know what names readers had suggested for the new character… until today.
That’s right! We’ve just uncovered a shortlist of entries with names for the OWL character, and all those of you out in the blog-o-sphere are going to vote to help us right a terrible wrong: after almost 11 years, we’re finally going to finish the contest so he can retire with a name!
