Happy Birthday to… Us!
Hey all. As you may have read in the January/February issue of OWL (in stores and mailboxes now!), this month marks the 35th anniversary of OWL. As I said in my editor’s letter, it was 35 years ago this very month that the first issue of OWL was published.
You know what that means: it’s time to celebrate! And celebrate we will. In fact, we invited a whole bunch of our favourite authors to celebrate along with us. We asked 10 famous Canadian authors to write a short story for each of the 10 issues in our birthday year. And that’s not all. We gave each of them a word related to birthdays (“candle,” “wish,” etc.) to help them get started.
First up is Cary Fagan, author of Jacob Two-Two on the High Seas and the Kaspar Snit series. He wrote us a story around the word “song,” and you can read it… in the January/February issue!
Coming up in the series are such amazing and wonderful authors as Kenneth Oppel, Susin Nielsen, and Arthur Slade — among others! So keep looking out for those stories and more as the birthday year rolls on!
Talk to you soon.
