Happy Lunar New Year!
Hey readers,
Did you know that February 10th is Lunar New Year?
Lunar New Year marks the first day of the New Year in the Chinese traditional calendar! This calendar is called a lunisolar calendar. It is based on the positions of the sun and the moon in the sky!
It is an annual festival that begins with the new moon and lasts until the following full moon. This year, it ends with the Lantern Festival on February 24th. Traditionally, Lunar New Year is a time for people to honour their ancestors and religious beings.
The holiday is celebrated by people around the world. Many people decorate their homes with red decorations, as red is seen as a lucky colour!
Each year is represented by a different zodiac animal. There are 12 in total. This new year is the year of the dragon!
Happy Lunar New Year, everyone!
