Happy New Year!
Hey all. Sorry I was away from the blog for the last few days. But we’re back with an item I’ve been saving forever.
Seeing as how OWL’s awesome Olympic issue is now on the stands, and the Winter Games are only seven (!) weeks away, I thought we’d kick the new year off right with a fantastically sporty YouTube clip.
Check it out (and make sure you watch all the way to the end):

Wow! Cool, huh? This video was taken at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was sent to me by blog reader Mary.
The skater in the video is an Australian named Steven Bradbury. As Mary says, “His name has now been made into a saying — to do a Bradbury. It means to never give up.”
Thank you so much to Mary for sending in the video. It is super-inspiring, and a great way to start off the year.
Happy 2010, everyone!

M.
Awesome!
I like how at the end he just relaxingly glided across the finish line, although I thought “Ouch!” when the rest of them fell and slipped.
I like how speedskating is so fast and looks a little agressive, yet graceful.
That is absolutely astonishing! Steven Bradbury should have bought a lottery ticket that day too. I would love to hear the interviews of all the skaters after the race too. Now I will use the saying “do a Bradbury”. Thanks Mary.
Thanks so much for posting that Craig!
Hope everyone enjoyed it
happy year 2010 to everyonde
Thanks, Madeleine.
Happy 2010 to you, too.

That’s so funny it first starts out like holy cow who is gonna win and at the last second BOOM they all fall except Steven Bradbury. Thanks ;}
