Holiday Roundup
Hi all. I was out of the office early for the long weekend, and I didn’t get a chance to post about Canada Day (July 1) or Independence Day (July 4). So I thought
I’d kick off this week by posting a couple things to celebrate both!
First, feast your eyes on some cool Canada Day art by OWL artist Kathy Boake:
Wicked! Doesn’t that just make you want to belt out a few bars of “O Canada”? Many thanks to Kathy for sending in the drawing.
Now, to celebrate the capital-“I” Independence of our neighbours to the south, check out this video of United States senator Al Franken drawing the map of his home country from memory:

Cool, huh? That takes some practice!
What did you guys do for the holidays? Fireworks? Festivals? Vacations? Let
me know in the comments below.

Wow. I went to a carnival, parade, and fireworks on Canada day. I did nothing for Independence Day but sit around the house.
Canadas day we watched the fireworks and another family came over. As 4 independance day idk when it even was! My bad.
I watch my brother perform with his band at a Canada day festival!
The art work is cool!!
that was realy cool
i could never do that unless it would look like a stick personn
I almost forgot that it was Canada day because I was in the middle of painting my room…but luckily my parents remembered and we walked uptown and went to the traditional Canada day flea market.
Not so exciting:).
Craig how do I know how many issues I have left?

Hey, I left a comment and now it’s gone!?
Hey Morgan. Not to worry â your comments are safe and sound! All comments go into a little holding pen for me to approve before they go up on the blog. This keeps the good ones in and the spam ones out! Thanks for commenting, by the way!
That’s really cool
that the comments you can aprove them or disaprove them Craig
My kids LOVE Owl. We are Americans & were vacationing in Canada during Canada Day. We had a great time sharing in the celebrations (a parade, baseball game, fireworks). We did not really get to celebrate the 4th of July (which is what we usually call Independence Day) since we were on the road, but we didn’t mind missing it this year. One thing we like to do for it is have a “Silly Olympics” with wacky games and fun food.
Hey Tabatha! I’m glad you could join in the Canada Day festivities. And I’m definitely glad your kids love OWL! Thanks for sharing.
