International Postcard Week
Hi, readers!
This week is International Postcard Week. It’s fun sending mail, isn’t it? At Owlkids, we really love receiving mail, too. Did you know that every time you write a letter to us, you’ll receive a postcard back? That’s right!
Meet Karen Cooke, she’s the person who hand writes every postcard back to our readers.
We asked Karen a few questions about her cool postcard-writing job!
chickaDEE: How long have you been writing postcards for Owlkids?
Karen: I have been writing postcards for Owlkids since 1983.
chickaDEE: How long does it take you to write each postcard?
Karen: It takes me about 3-5 minutes to a write a postcard. I will comment on the reader’s drawing, question or joke and then I usually send them a joke or talk about the current issue.
chickaDEE: What’s your favourite thing about writing postcards to readers?
My favourite thing about writing postcards is being able to send a card by mail to kids as I know it is always exciting to receive a letter in the mail, especially when most things are sent by email. I also enjoy seeing all their great drawings, questions and funny jokes.
chickaDEE: Where is the farthest you’ve ever sent a postcard?
Karen: Hong Kong!
If you’d like to send a postcard to Chirp, chickaDEE or OWL, the address is:
10 Lower Spadina, Suite 400
Toronto, Ontario
M5V 2Z2
Canada
We look forward to reading your letter!
Happy writing,
– Mandy, chickadeeblog@owlkids.com
