It’s Roller Skating Month!
Hey readers,
Grab your helmet and kneepads for roller skating month! Celebrated every October, this fun holiday is all about getting some exercise, enjoying the outdoors, an letting the good times roll.
Check out these cool facts you might not know about roller blades:
- Roller skates were invented in London in 1760. The inventor John Joseph Merlin created roller skates so he could roll into a party while playing the violin!
- In the 60s and 70s, many workers at fast food joints served their customers while wearing roller blades! These kinds of restaurants were called carhops.
- The largest parade of roller skaters took place in Paris and involved over 1,188 people!
