Meet Glee from Mini Pop Kids!
The Mini Pop Kids are Canada’s best-selling kids music group! They are currently travelling across North America, including a stop in Toronto, Ontario on June 12th, with their Bright Lights RELIT tour. You can dance along while they sing songs by BTS, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodgrio and more!
Glee, 11, is a member of Mini Pop Kids. Chickadee intern, Erin, had the chance to talk to her about what it’s like to be part of the musical group—read on!
What is the best part of being in Mini Pop Kids?
The best part of being in Mini Pop Kids is performing on stage. It’s what makes all those hours of practice worth it, and I love to meet the audience after, too!
How did you start performing with the group?
I auditioned for MPK (very nervous), made the team group (very excited!), and love being with the other Mini Pop Kids! We all want to put on the best show and music possible, and feed off the energy from the crowd, and each other.
Do you ever get stage fright? How do you get over it?
Yes, stage fright is real! But once I start my first move and vocal it all disappears … and I just become super excited and able to channel that energy into my performance.
What advice would you give to a kid who wants to become a singer or a performer?
Follow your passion and work really hard! Never give up! Your dreams will come true if you work at it!
What is your favourite song to perform? Why?
I love all the songs, but if I must choose one right now, it would be “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” because it is more than a song — each MPK gets to be a character. The music video was so much fun to film, and I love to stream the song. I hope the readers love it as much as we loved making it!
