Meet Some Creatures of the Deep!
Hi readers,
If you haven’t already, check out the Animal of the Month section in the May issue of chickaDEE!
The gulper eel, giant tubeworm, blobfish and Dumbo octopus all have something in common – they love to hang out on the ocean floor!
Here’s a sneak peak of the cool things we love about these deep-sea creatures.
Giant Tubeworm
The giant tubeworm isn’t very active. In fact, once it reaches adulthood, this plant-like animal will stay in one spot for the rest of its life!
Dumbo Octopus
The Dumbo octopus looks more like a cartoon character than a real creature. In fact, this cute critter was named after Dumbo, the cartoon elephant, because of its close resemblance.
Gulper eel
This strange-looking creature depends on chance when looking for food. You’ll find this fellow with its mouth wide-open, waiting for crustaceans, like shrimp, to swim on in!
Blobfish
At first glance, it’s hard to tell that this critter is even alive! That’s because this fish’s body is made up of a squishy, jelly-like material. Slimy stuff!

I’ll sea you later, readers!
