Hey all. Here’s a one-question mailbag with a historical theme for a Thursday afternoon. Enjoy!
Q: What comics did OWL start with? Was it completely different ones?

CB: Yes. The first comic OWL ever published was called “The Mighty Mites.”
At first, it was about three kids who could shrink down in order to get a new, totally cool perspective on things — such as insects. Here’s a panel from an early, black-and-white “Mites” comic:
“The Mighty Mites” lasted in OWL for over 25 years. By the end of its run, the comic was called “The M-Team” — it featured three different kids who used special powers to fight environmental crimes. The final comic ran in Summer 2002.

I remember we had a contest where someone got to finish one of those in an issue a little while ago… can’t remember when though. Max Finder is awesome though, but I personally like the Sidesteppers the most.
Awesome memory, Ashtyn! They were actually panels from the very same “Mites” comic, and we asked readers to write the ending. We got some great responses!
Ashtyn, Sidesteppers is my favourite too.
*gasps* Max Finder is totally the best! Sidesteppers was good, but Max is always awesomer!
I find Max Finder equal to Sidesteppers. I just know Sidesteppers more.
