More Strange and True World Records
As you probably know by now, November’s “Weird Zone” in OWL is all about world records. It’s two pages packed full of odd and amazing stuff — Waldo gatherings, text messages, slam dunks, and more.
In the spirit of the story, here’s a video featuring a weird record we didn’t talk about: the world’s largest rubber band ball!
Check it out:

Whoa. According to the Miami New Times newspaper, the ball stands about 2 m (6.5 ft.) and has a circumference of almost 8 m (26 ft.). It took five years to build, weighs more than 4,200 kg (9,400 pounds), and contains about 730,000 rubber bands.
Talk about dedication, huh? The ball’s builder, a man named Joel Waul, spent as much time working on his rubber masterpiece as I’ve spent working at OWL!
Catch you on Friday, guys!
