MOVIE NEWS: High School Musical 3
Well, looks like it’s singin’ and dancin’ week here on the OWL blog. Or, maybe it’s dancin’ and singin’ week…. Either way, I got to check out a sneak preview of High School Musical 3 on Wednesday, and I thought I’d give you guys the heads up.
First off, a confession: I’ve never seen High School Musical. I’ve seen most of High School Musical 2, and I thought it was really weird that Troy had so much trouble making decisions and putting his friends first. What kind of a goof chooses playing pick-up basketball over every friendship he has? A little odd, if you ask me.
Anyway, Troy (played by über-star Zac Efron) has his priorities back in check for this new movie. They’re all about to graduate and he’s clearly… choosing basketball again at the expense of his bigger goals. What’s up with this guy? He should choose theatre! It’s so obvious.
The other problem for Troy is that his girlfriend Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) plans to move away for college, and her move might come even sooner than he thinks. Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale), meanwhile, tries all movie to sabotage everyone else and put the spotlight on herself. (Again.)
So, as you might guess, there’s some singing about being scared about the future. There’s some singing about wanting to stay young, etc. Just for the record: I think my favourite song is “High School Musical,” the last one in the movie.
In summation, if you’re a fan of the High School Musical series, you’re going to LOVE this movie. The songs are pretty catchy, the choreography (ding, ding, ding!: it’s choreography week on the OWL blog!) is great, and the characters are… still around. Plus, the series has finally made it to the big screen. If you’re not a fan, though, this movie probably won’t change your mind.
What do you guys think? Have you seen the first two movies? Are you excited for this one? Let me know in the comments!
Have a great weekend.

P.S. Here is a picture of me with my new friends, Troy and Sharpay.

ehg, i HATE high school musical. i was forced threw the first movie by my friend, and, no ofence to anyone who likes the movies, but EWWWWW!!!!!! i just think that it’s pathetically cheesy, and, well, pointless. and i agree with Craig, the characters need to get there priorities straight.
Kewl! I’m going to see it tomorrow!
I kinda agree with you, sinead.
There’s really no point in the movie.
It’s a typical Disney movie, why waste 1 or 2 hours of your precious life watching it??
Is that a real picture, or did you just make that up? Probaly the 2nd one, but I want to know anyways!
I’ve never seen any of the other movies before, but the critics said it was really good. I think it might be a good change. To me, it seems like the one of the three with the best storyline of them all. Although I kind of hate to admit it, I kind of want to see it. But, I don’t think any musical movie about high school teens could beat “Grease”.
I saw “Cabaret” at Stratford today.
I agree, sinead, and Craig how’d you do that picture thing?
Okay, the truth about the photo is this: Zack Efron and I are best buds. No! Just kidding. There was a cardboard cut-out at the theatre. Mandy just took a photo of me standing behind it. Pretty good though, huh?
I really don’t like the HSM series. They are SO boring and SO cheesy. I totally agree with you sinead. No offense to fans of HSM.
I knew they were cardboard cutouts by their fixed shape that made them look like they were in the middle of the movie. The also looked too flat and too shiny and smooth.
Disney movies are NOT all wastes of time.
“The Lion King” was one of their best, maybe even their peak. What about “Mulan”, “Pocahontus” and “The Lion King 2”? They were really good too!
Ah, That explains it.
the older Disney movies are good, but the more recent ones aren’t. just a fact. 🙂
Kool! REALLY GOOD MOVIE!
Hey, have any of you received your November 2008 issue of OWL yet??????
NO!!!!!! i haven’t gotten it yet, which is weird, because i have monitored the time it comes, (i’v had a subscription long enough to know it comes almost the day exactly a week from the first of the month) i was expecting it friday or today, and it hasn’t come!
completely different subject, what is everyone going as for Halloween?
No, but I sure can’t wait!
No, but my sister got her Chickadee last week. It always comes first!
I got my OWL yesterday!
There are still good recent Disney movies. Like “The Shaggy Dog”, and “National Treasure”
I’m going as a TV for Halloween.
I HAVE GOT IT ! ! ! I AM FLIPPING OUT.
I am also very sorry. Sinead, you can ask me ???????????.
HSM is good! I know some people don’t like it, but even if you don’t like people randomly jumping up anytime to start singing and dancing the exact same thing as everyone else, at least take note of the message that comes with the movie! Then, maybe you’ll see it’s not that bad you guys! I like HSM for the singing and all, but also for the messages they give! 😉 Don’t critisize it too much though! It’s still good!;)
cool blog!
