MOVIE NEWS: Princess Protection Program
Editor’s note: we interrupt our regularly scheduled programming for a word from OWL’s amazing associate editor, Mandy Ng. (Craig will be back next week.) Enjoy!
Last Friday, I attended the red-carpet premiere of the Disney movie Princess Protection Program. As you may know, the movie stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, and both showed up at the screening to talk about the movie. Here’s my report!
The movie is about a princess named Rosalinda (Demi Lovato) who is forced to flee her country and hide out in rural Louisiana. The prim and proper princess then has to pretend to be a normal girl while living with Carter Mason (Selena Gomez), a tomboy teenager who would rather be doing anything else than living with royalty.
Princess Protection Program is a classic story of two people coming from different worlds and finding out that they actually do have stuff in common.
Here are a few observations about the movie:
1) Princess Protection Program has a great message: “Never judge a book by its cover.” Which takes me to my next observation…
2) Being a princess isn’t just about having a crown and pretty dresses. In fact, to quote OWL’s art director Susan, “Princesses are pretty on the inside, too!” You don’t need to wear a crown to be a princess (or prince). It’s what inside that really counts.
3) The stars of the movie ” and real-life BFF’s — Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were awesome and have great on-screen chemistry. (Fun tidbit: Demi originally auditioned for the part of Carter Mason and Selena tried out for the part of Princess Rosalinda. But in the end, the actresses realized their personalities fit the opposite roles and they switched. Good choice!)
Overall, I thought it was a sweet movie with fantastic performances. Before the screening started, Selena told the audience that you should watch this movie with your best friend because it is all about friendship.
Grab a pal and catch it tonight on Family Channel or Disney Network at 8 p.m. You can also rent the DVD starting on June 30.
Bye for now!

SUMMER VACATION! YAAAAAAAAHOOOOOO! We`re off school now and FREE AS BIRDS! I`m going camping tonight, so I`m uber happy!
I want to see this! lol notice that so many pretty movie stars are brunettes now! GO BRUNETTES! =)
On Poptropica in super powers does anyone know how to get rid of the girl that flies?
I don’t really like disney movies, like camp rock and high school musical and whatnot. They just seem so pointless. Besides, I don’t have disney chanel. and GO BRUNETTES! 😀
Mara, first you have to beat all the other villans. This gives you the power to fly.
This is a weird talk about brunettes. Thanks Stringbean, did you like beat all the towns? So then how do I get rid of the rock throwing guy?
YEY BRUNETTES!!
You have to beat ALL the other villains??
Yikes.
One down…four to go….:(
Can’t wait till I can fly though. Should be fun. XD
I LOVED THE MOIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS SO SO SO SO SO AWESOME! i saw it off the internet! I loved the morals/themes u came up with! it fited so perfectly with the moive! XD
SINEAD! U DON”T LIKE DISNEY!?!?!?!?!?!?! have u seen UP? it’s so AWESOME!
I watched it last night, but it was too emotional and kinda cheesy. I’d rate it 3/5 stars. Cause some younger kids might like it.
Wahhhhh…..I don’t want blondes to disapear….and not all blondes are dumb blondes. There are plenty that are smart!
Ya I’m a blonde and I’m a straight A student
Hey Mara, never told ya this, but I have another friend named Mara and she’s a brunette!
Me too, Mara. I’m blonde and I made it on the honour roll every term! I’ve gotten great marks all my life! I also know a Mara at my school who is a brunette.
Mara, I used to play poptropica, but someone did something to our computer so that it is all jerky with graphics so I can’t play any more. 🙁 To beat the guy with the rocks, first run around when the rocks follow you so that the rock hits the villan. Then land will shoot up out on the ground. I forget what it is, but there is some object that you push so that it goes underneath one of those flying dirt and it goes flying and hits the villan. HOpe that helps!
Hey, I am a brunette and I won the top acidemic mark in my grade!
How do you say your last name, Mandy?
I’m not saying I don’t like all disney movies, just ones like high school musical and whatnot. They’re just so pointless. And nothings wrong with blonds or red-heads or anything, just I’m a brunette so I’m kinda biased for brunettes. 🙂
Will try the rock guy thing!
Thanks for the help!
Ok I will try it thanks Stringbean
Stringbean I hit the guy with the rock but I can’t find that thing…
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t get the flying girl!
I have a question. What if you enter for a contest and you don’t feel comfortable with your last name being revield if you won or are a runner up? What do you do?
Awesome blog guys!!! I have a blog of my own called When Pigs Fly.
It would be awesome if Owl made an issue about blogging!
Ditto here Sinead, about the brunette thing. Nothing against blondes or anything. They’re just as smart as the rest of us. 🙂
Never mind about super powers I finished it! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, in Time tangled does anybody know were to get the guys goggles?
princess protection program was AWESOME!
Nevaer mind that too!LOL
So Mara, if you’re done Super Powers…can you help me get the guy in the train?
🙂
To Stringbean:
Ng is pronounced “ING”! 🙂
Wow Katie and Sidney who know a brunette named Mara. Now I’m serious does anybody know what to do once you are inside the carrot factory? OBTW I finshed Super Powers and Time Tangled!
Ok Marwyn: the guy in the train is easy… so he’s like 4 rooms away right you have to try to run him into the room were you started by just annoying him and running him into each room one by one. Hope that helps!
In the postcard are you aloud to do 3-D art!
Sure, Mara! No problem.
Thanks Mandy! It is such a cool looking last name. =) What is it’s orgin?
Yay cause I have a super awsome idea!
Thanks Mara!
How did you get into the carrot factory?
I’m assuming you found the cat and got a crowbar….
Does anyone know what to do in Nabooti in the pyramid? When you’re on the part where all the floor is falling….
You know….
😕
Ya Marwyn. Did you already get in that big statue with the little ring on top of the statue? If you did please tell me how to get in!
Katherine =) where on the internet did you see the movie because I think I might just do what you do.
So you have the shovel I’m assuming…
Do you have a cellphone?
If you don’t…it’s in Mountains of the Moon, on the floor of the cave. You dial the number on the handle of the shovel, then go over to the knapsack, click on it, take the gem to the top of the statue, and click on the ring.
Hope that wasn’t too jumbled.
Hey That movie rox
Like really WATCH IT PEOPLE!!!!!
demi lovato has some weird lines in that movie. I don’t really get the end…
It’s the best movie ever I love it! <3 🙂
