OWL Poster Contest

Hi all. As I told you a couple weeks back, OWL is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. When we were thinking up some things to create to honour our history, we thought, “How about a poster of covers? We could do one cover for each of our 35 years!” Then we (or, more specifically, our creative director, Barb) thought, ”Why not put ’em all on there!”

So that’s what we eventually did. The result of our efforts is an amazingly cool (and pretty huge!) poster featuring the covers of all 342 issues OWL published between 1976 and 2010.

Here is a very small version of the finished product:

Wow! It’s awesome to be able to look back like this. I’ve been working for OWL for six years (I actually had my six-year anniversary on January 10!), and I can see the exact issue I started on. It’s four rows from the bottom, five in from the right. I can even see the issue of OWL that hit newsstands the month I was born (three rows from the top, four in from the left). So cool.

Now, I know the covers are tough to see because this image is so small. So! I’m thinking we should give a few of these away.
