Pee Power
In our April issue, we told you about an electric generator that runs on cost-free pee called the Urine Power Generator. One of the coolest things about it is that it was invented by four teenage girls from Nigeria!
Here’s how the Urine Power Generator works:
- Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which separates out the hydrogen.
- The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.
- The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.
- This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.
One litre of urine will give you about six hours of electricity.
We think these girls are amazing for coming up with this environmentally-friendly invention! There’s still research being done on this project but we like where it’s heading so far.
