Uruguay!!!!!!! 🙂
On the magazine from June 2014 on page 39 in the How to Speak the languague of the country, you got just Three rigth from 7, your mistakes:
Trophy = Trofeu, Goal = GOL; Team = Time; Sports = ESPORTES! In portuguese we can use team as EQUIPE, but it’s more the spanish way , and sometime we call Trophy taca! I’m from Brazil, Just a remind that I can’t use acentuation on my computer so the work TROFEU should have and accent
” ‘ “on the “E” and Taca should have a ” C cedilha ” instead of “C”, like you have at the magazine.
Thanks for replying, Monique!
We had a Portuguese instructor check our translations and she says they are correct in European Portuguese, and that there are some differences depending on the area. But we did find out that the one which could be questioned is the word trophy, troféu. It really depends on the context to use the word taça.
I’m so glad you brought this to our attention. Thanks for reading OWL!
I’m not a soccer fan, but if I had to cheer for a team, it would be Brazil since they’re the host nation!
