RAotW #63
Wahoo! It’s Friday! What’s more: it’s almost winter break! If you ask me, that calls for some seriously celebratory Reader Art of the Week.
Check out the following from blog reader Candace:
Excellent! Candace informs me she took this photo several months back at a Canada Day fireworks display. She said it took a few tries to get it right, but it looks like her perseverance paid off in the colourful shot above.
Many thanks to Candace for sending in her art. If YOU would like to see YOUR art on the blog, just send it to me at owlblog@owlkids.com.
Before I go, I also have a couple other questions/requests for you. Read on:
1) What would you like to read next in the OWL Blog Book Club? Click here to check out what we’ve covered already.
2) Got any questions for me or anyone else on the OWL team? I’m posting a mailbag next week, and need some stuff to answer!
And that’s it, blog readers! Have a great weekend, and don’t forget to post all your book recommendations, questions, etc., in the comments below.
Talk to you soon.
Craig, owlblog@owlkids.com
awesome candace
i would love to do starclimber best book ever
have you evr met a famous person
Sigh.No Hannah I have never met a famous person.I kinda wish I could.
i met matt leblanc from friends in a elevator.
Who’s he?
I’ve met a few famous people in my time (politicians, musicians, and authors, mainly), and most were very cool, normal people. Funny story: I walked by a bookstore last night in Toronto, and there was a huge lineup for a Cody Simpson appearance. The kids in line were going NUTS!
Great Job, Candace!!!
I would like to read:
The Tiger Rising (Kate Dicamllo)
The Tale of Despereaoux (Kate Dicamllo also)
The Philosophers’s Stone (JK Rowling!)
I’ve read all of these 5 times each and think they would be good for the book club!
Also: I just noticed that you updated the “Craig’s Picks”. Cool!
Hey Tia! Thanks for noticing! I had let it get a little (I mean, WAY) out of date. Anything I should have put on there for movies, video games, links…?
That’s a really cool picture, Canadace!! 😀
1) I can’t really think of a good book right now.
2) How do you choose prizes for the contests you have?
Thanks a lot Hannah!
Thanks Craig for posting my picture!
We should discuss Diary of A Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney!
Hi Ayden. That was actually the first book we talked about. Check out the discussion here:

Oh Whoops! Maybe, Big Nate by Licoln Pierce!
It’s a great book!
Awesome picture Candace!
Now, for the questions…
1) Harry Potter or The Hunger Games!!!!
2) What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Yeah! Those are like the perfect books!
That is like the awesomest picture ever. (Yes I know awesomest is not a word).
I noticed that you said you might do The Tail of Desperoux but you never did. Do that one. Its really good. Also, I know you have done stuff about the movie but The Invention of Hugo Cadre is really good.
Harry potter! I worship jk Rowling!
What about the Outsiders???
Thats a classic
I think the fireworks look like flowers. Candace its a great pic.
1) my favorite book is “Sir Rowen and the Camerian Conquest (Chuck Black).” its got something for everyone, non-stop adventure, romance, tragedy, and for people who like crying over a book its also got some sad parts. its a really great book that i think every one should read.
2) do you post everything sent in to reader art of the week?
Are you the Jessica I know?Kingdoms quest is a bit better. For one it has a bit more action and is kinda sadder.
No way. Sir rowen is way better. And yes I’m the same Jessica you know. We’re best friends remember?
Has anyone on the blog read sir rowen and the Cambrian conquest
By chuck black
Ya,I remember.I read it and I almot cried,so sad.Sniff,sniff.
The Invention of Hugo Cabret is a really good book. I think it would be great for the book club.
I love the picture, Candace! It’s really hard to get a decent shot of something like fireworks because they move so fast (Believe me, I’ve tried), but you did a really great job.
Thanks Emma:) You should have seen my other atemps, some were ok.But a lot of them had only the beautiful pitch-black sky.;)
No kidding. I was there when you took it. It took you a while too get a nice pic.
Yeah, I agree with Sunil. The outsiders is awesome. Did you know it was written by a girl?
