RAotW #69
Hey all! I just invented a new dance. It’s called “The Reader Art of the Week” and the steps look like this. Just kidding!
As we all know by now, Reader Art of the Week (or RAotW, for short) is not a dance, but a beloved feature here on ye olde OWL Blog. This week’s art comes to us from blog reader Laura. Check out her photography below:
Laura tells me she snapped this shot last summer in Tofino, B.C. My favourite thing about it (beyond the fact that I went there many times growing up and this picture reminds me so much of home) is the way the shoreline cuts diagonally across the frame. My photojournalism teacher from university would approve!
I also like how the wet sand has a very untouched look to it, and that the tide seems to be slowly wearing it away to reveal the shells on the left-hand side of the image. Nice.
Many thanks to Laura for sending in her photo, and for reminding me of home and all of us of the summer. It’s not too long off now…!
Talk to you soon.

That’s a cool picture!
WOW! That’s a GREAT picture Laura! The water, and the beach, look so clean and inviting.
Awesome photo!
LOL…I thought that the little shells/rocks were boats and the wave was a tsunami at first. I like it.
I love tofino, but the waters so COLD!!! Photos cool, Laura-who-I-just-beat-in-a-bobsled-race
Thanks guys 🙂
And I know, the water in Tofino is FREEZING! It’s weird, because the water is really warm on a lot of other parts of Vancouver Island.
I was on saltspring in the summer, camping, and the water was amazing, and then we stopped in tofino, and it was soooo cold
