Hi readers,

Today, I turned tree cones into animals! I made a bunny, bird, mouse, and puppy! You can turn cones into all sorts of animals. Try making your own pet!

You’ll Need:

1. Tree cones (like pine cones)
2. Felt
3. Foam sheets
4. Construction paper
5. Googly eyes
6. Scissors
7. Glue

Instructions:

1. Collect big and small pine cones.
2. Decide what animal you want to make.
3. Use scissors to cut out the animal’s arms, legs, nose and mouth out of felt, foam sheets and construction paper. Then, glue each body part to the pine cone.
4. Glue on googly eyes.

Tip: Add more decorations to your pine cone pet with pompoms and beads!

Did you know that there are male and female pine cones? Male pine cones are very small and can be found on the tip of tree branches. Female pine cones are bigger than the males. Their extra weight makes them fall from the trees!

Also, did you know that “pine cone” is the name for cones that grow on pine trees? There are many types of tree cones!
