Story Time on the Blog
Hey all. Who’s up for a short fairy tale? The following story was submitted by long-time blog reader Frank, and it’s a little bit whimsical, a little bit magical, and quite a bit of fun.
Enjoy!
Dreams of Enchantria
The air was cold and the trees had lost their leaves. Enchantria had frosted over. Even though the enchantment was over, the people still wished they could see the face of that little girl singing in the marketplace.
It all started one fall day. Winter was coming and many farmers went out to harvest their crops. Everyone in the village grew a different crop, so selling food was easy. Harvest time was very important. Everyone was preparing for winter — everyone except King Zelman.
King Zelman was mean! He stole from and tortured his people just for enjoyment. Nobody liked King Zelman.
Farmers had just brought back their first harvest of the season. This year’s crops were turning out to be the best and largest of the century. It was a miracle!
The market was very lively. Children were screaming, women were buying and selling food… it was quite a crowd! A boy heard something. It was coming from the centre of the marketplace. Surrounded by a group of people was a girl singing a song that sounded like a spell.
Many hours went by and the voice of the girl could still be heard. Never once did she sound tired.
The next day the crops were higher than ever. In the centre of the marketplace was the singing girl. It seemed as if she was making the food grow.
With every song the girl sang the crops grew taller and the weather became warmer. The song had enchanted the village.
It didn’t take long before King Zelman got wind of the girl. Not wanting his villagers to be happy and well fed, he decided he would capture her.
That night the king crept out of his castle. He saw the girl singing. He crawled out from his hiding spot and jumped at her, but he fell flat on his face. The girl escaped, and was gone, forever.
The next morning frost came and the crops died. The girl was gone, but many people still claim that some nights they can hear the magical spell of that little girl singing in the marketplace.
THE END
Neat, huh? I mean, who doesn’t like a story where the evil king falls flat on his face? Many thanks to Frank for sending it in.
Talk to you all soon!

Amazing story Frank!
Pretty good. I’m guessing it was a short story and not a section of one that was a bit longer.
Who hear has seen the movie “Grease”?
Yup, you’re right, Katie. I added “THE END” just now to make it clear.
sweet story! that was so cool.
Thanks everyone for your comments!
Wow, great story, Frank! In some ways, it is mysterious because we never know the girl went. I kind of hope there is a second installment of “Dreams of Enchantia” because I really hope the girl will be found and the king dies.
Really cool!
I like it!
(first time blogger) Cool story!
I think that Frank, you might want to consider other titles. I’m not sure if “Dreams of Enchantria” works. I mean, it’s cool and all, but I’m not sure if it suts the story.
suits, not suts
Really intresting!!
The story leaves a lot of mystery behind it
