Story Time on the Blog
And now, for my next trick, a blog post at night!
Seriously, though, who’s up for a story? This one comes to us from blog reader Mara, and I’ve been hanging on to it for way too long. Without further adieu:
The Aliens That Came to Earth
“Ahhh! HELP ME! Aliens are trying to attack me!” I shouted as I ran across the backyard in my pajamas.
Oops! Sorry! I forgot to introduce myself. Hi, my name is Alex. I am seven years old, and I have dirty blond hair and beautiful blue eyes (according to my mom).
Anyway, let’s get back to where we were. Oh, right! The “aliens are trying to attack me” part. It all happened on a normal night when I was sound asleep in my room. I woke up to a strange beeping noise coming from outside. I got out of bed and went to check out what it was. When I got outside I realized it was. A U.F.O.!
That’s how it all started. Okay, aliens didn’t actually attack me. Maybe I was overdoing it, just a bit. I only yelled what I yelled to be on the safe side.
The U.F.O. looked like a lobster, but it definitely scared the tacos out of me. It had a couple of windows and believe it or not the whole thing was rainbow coloured. But I haven’t even told you the strangest part yet. Through one of the windows, I could see weird-looking creatures holding what looked like coffee mugs.
The thing — or should I say the U.F.O. — was on our lawn by now burning up steam. Some kids would probably pee in their pants right now but me? Nahhhhhhhh. I’m probably the bravest seven-year-old around. (Okay, fine. Maybe I’m not the bravest kid around.) Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the door to the U.F.O. opened. I could almost faint.
BEEP BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP BEEP!
“Honey, wake up now. It’s time to go to school.”
“Oh, hi mom. I just had the strangest dream ever.”
“Okay! Well, I hope it didn’t scare you. You’d better go get dressed now.”
Oh well. I guess it was a dream after all.

Cool, huh? I’m betting I’m not the only reader shocked by that ending. I was all ready to meet the aliens, and then whammo! It was all a dream. Thanks to Mara for sending the story — and for sending me for a loop!
