Summer Solstice!
Hi readers,
Happy Summer Solstice! Today is the first official day of summer and to celebrate the longest day of the year, check out these fun facts!
- The North Pole is tilted closest to the sun more than any other time of year during the summer solstice.
- The sun doesn’t set in the North Pole throughout the entire summer.
- In Wiltshire, England, there’s a stone monument called Stonehenge that was built over 5,000 years ago. Some suggest it was used as to mark solstices. Every year, people gather to celebrate the event.
- Every planet in our solar system has solstices!
