It’s also the title of a new book written by Michelle Markel and illustrated by Nancy Carpenter about John Newbery and the birth of children’s books. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, guess what? “Liam Takes A Stand is a story about Liam, who is the little brother of twin brothers, Lester and Lister. The brothers are always trying to be better than each other.

When Liam wants to help his big brothers so he can have fun and play with them, his brothers tell him that he is too slow and too little. Liam comes up with a plan to work hard and show his brothers that he can do whatever they do!

Book Review: The Sleeping Gypsy

Hey readers,

Have you ever had a dream that felt so real, you swore you weren’t even asleep? I just read a great book that reminded me of this kind of feeling.

The Sleeping Gypsy by Mordicai Gerstein is all about an artist named Henri Rousseau who has a dream about a girl falling asleep in the middle of the desert. While the girl is sleeping, a group of curious animals come up to her one by one, to get a better look.

Then, out of nowhere, the animals spot a strange figure coming towards them. It’s Henri, the artist who’s having the dream! Why is he there? What will he say to the animals? What happens after he wakes up? You’ll have to check out this book to find out.

Book Review: Gus’s Garage

Hey readers,

I just read a great book called Gus’s Garage by Leo Timmers.

Gus’s friends are all having trouble while driving their cars. For example, Gus’s friend Rico has a seat that’s just too small. And his friend Gina is too chilly in her car! Not to mention Walter, who’s skin is feeling super dry. How will Gus manage to fix all of these problems?

chickaDEE reader Clare, just read a book called Clara Humble and the Not-So-Super Powers by Anna Humphrey.

chickaDEE reader Clare with her copy of Clara Humble and the Not-So-Secret Super Powers.

My name is Clare, and I read Clara Humble and the Not-So-Super Powers by Anna Humphrey. This story is about a 9-year-old girl named Clara Humble who thinks she has super powers. She really does have one super power, but you’ll have to read the book to find out what it is!

There are lots of good parts to this book, like when Clara tries to use mind control on her principal.

There are little drawings in this book with funny labels. One is a picture of a (healthy) spelt chocolate chip muffin that Clara’s mom made that Clara compares to a stone in a muffin cup!

This book is really good and I am happy that it is Book ONE in a SERIES!
