Whoo! This week has been a doozy! Lots going on here at the OWL office: we’re finishing up work on the Summer issue, getting things ready for the dummy of September, and looking ahead to October and November. Also, because of that, I keep thinking it’s already autumn. I’m unstuck in time!
Luckily, there’s Reader Art of the Week to keep me grounded. This week’s art comes to us courtesy of OWL reader Peri, who saw the “Calling All Artists!” call-out in the “Hoot” section of May OWL and sent us the painting below. Check it out:
Wow! Peri tells me this painting was created using Chinese watercolours. I don’t know too much about those, so I did some research. One website says Chinese watercolours are “vegetable or mineral pigments bound with glue.” Another says the artistic custom is “one of the oldest… in the world.” Cool!
In summation, I may not know a lot about Chinese watercolour, but I know from this painting that I love it. Many thanks to Peri for sending this in!
