Meet a chickaDEE Writer!
Hi readers!
Are you a fan of chickaDEE’s Daisy Dreamer comic? If so, you’ll be super excited to meet the writer, Philip Moscovitch.
We asked Phil a few questions to get to know him better. Here’s what he had to say!
Philip Moscovitch
chickaDEE: When did you start writing?
Philip: I’ve been writing since I was kid. I remember writing long stories and trying to write comics in Grade 4. I started writing as my job about 20 years ago.
chickaDEE: What inspires you?
Philip: Sometimes I just start writing and then ideas start coming to me. Even after many years, it still feels like magic. I also find my kids inspiring. They’re pretty interesting people.
chickaDEE: What kind of books did you read as a kid?
Philip: The Hardy Boys, old-fashioned humour, books about hockey, and lots of comics! I especially loved Tintin, Asterix and old Marvel comics. A strange comic called Plop was one of my favourites.
chickaDEE: What’s your favourite rainy day activity?
Philip: Board games, video games and movies.
chickaDEE: Favourite pizza toppping?
Philip: Mushrooms.
chickaDEE: Are you a morning person or night owl?
Philip: Definitely a night owl! But that doesn’t work so well when you have a family. I don’t stay up too late anymore, because I don’t get to sleep in.
chickaDEE: Where is the coolest place you’ve been?
Philip: There are these caves in a place called Diros, near where my mother lives in Greece. They have water and you go through the caves in a boat. Very, very cool. I’m also a huge baseball fan, so going to games at Fenway Park in Boston and Estadio Latinoamericano in Havana, Cuba, was also a lot of fun.
chickaDEE: Who’s your hero?
Philip: My comics hero is Jack Kirby. He had an incredible imagination and created or helped create tons of characters, including Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and The Fantastic Four. A lot of people know Stan Lee, but not as many know Jack Kirby. Two of my favourite Kirby characters are the super-villain Darkseid and Kamandi, the last boy on earth.
chickaDEE: Favourite board game?
Philip: I’ll say Werewolves, even though you play it with special cards and not a board.
chickaDEE: What’s the best thing about writing Daisy Dreamer?
Philip: Learning about cool places, animals and meeting kids who read the comic and love it. Daisy has a lot of fans!
Thanks, Philip! It was great getting to know you better. Keep your eyes peeled for more chickaDEE interviews!
Bye for now,
