Try These Fun Summer Activities!

Owlkids intern Courtney is getting into the summer spirit with some outdoor games. Enjoy!

Hey, readers!

Summer is almost here, and the weather is finally warm! Playing outside is so fun when the sun is shining. Here are a few activities you can play while you’re outside!

1. Play hopscotch. Draw squares with sidewalk chalk and try hopping inside them!
2. Run through a sprinkler. Make it a game and see how many times you can run back and forth.
3. Tag, you’re it! Play a game of tag with your family and friends.
4. Have a sack race. Ask an adult for some old pillowcases. Stand inside one and hop across the yard. The first person to reach the other side wins!
5. Make up a song while playing jump rope! Skipping rope is really fun, but it’s even better when you have a song to sing.

Hold a Rabbit Race!

Hi readers,

Hop into some fun this Easter weekend with a twist on the potato sack race!

1. Grab a big pillowcase, potato sack or garbage bag for each player.
2. Decide on a starting point and finish line.
3. Ask everyone to line up at the starting point.
4. When someone yells “GO!” everyone should start hoping (like a bunny) towards the finish line.
5. The person to hop over the finish line first wins!

Tip: Ask players to twitch their noses as they race to make everyone seem even more bunny-like!

Get Outside!

Hey readers,

Do you need a fun game to play outside? Try these three fun ideas!

1. WETBALL

Play football with a twist. Use a soapy sponge instead of a ball for a super-wet game.

2. SKIP ROPE CHALLENGE

Get a timer and challenge your friends to a skip rope contest. Who can do the most jumps in 60 seconds?

3. BALLOON RACE

Grab some pals and blow up balloons. Make a start and finish line out of sticks. Then put the balloons between your legs and see who can walk the fastest to the finish line! (Ask your parents for help with the balloons.)
