Today is the first day of October! Time to think about Halloween, right? Depending on where you live, COVID-19 may change your plans for Halloween this year. But now you can keep the Halloween spirit alive in your own neighbourhood—and help kids who need it! For many kids around the world, COVID-19 has changed their access to essentials that keep them safe and healthy: water, nutrition, education and health care.
UNICEF Canada has adapted their popular Halloween program to encourage kids to become Halloween Heroes! How? Dress up and walk your neighbourhood (while social distancing) with your family and sign up for the UNICEF Halloween Walk-a-thon! When you sign up by October 9th, you’ll get a fun walk-a-thon package in the mail with a Halloween Hero Card to help you raise money. Get all the details by clicking here.
It sounds like a great idea that we can all get behind! Will you be a Halloween Hero this year? Let us know in the comments!
Trick or treat? I think the October issue is definitely a treat! Are you fascinated by space and what might be out there? This month in Chickadee, read what scientists are doing to explore space for signs of life. Do you know what you’re going to dress up as for Halloween yet? We show you how to turn bristol board into 4 fun costumes! We have tons more Halloween fun—we also have monster cookies, Halloween poems, puzzles and comics. Happy Halloween!
Hope you’re all ready for Halloween tonight! Here are some safety tips for all the Trick-or-treaters out there.
Have fun and be safe!
