Happy Winter Solstice!

Hi readers,

Today is the first official day of winter, otherwise known as the winter solstice! To celebrate the shortest day of the year, check out these cool facts!

1. The North Pole is tilted away from the sun during the winter time.
2. Each planet in the Earth’s solar system has solstices.
3. In Wiltshire, England, there’s a stone monument called Stonehenge that was built over 5,000 years ago. It is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and some think it was used as to mark solstices. Every year, people gather there to celebrate the event.
4. It’s not always on the same day. The solstice can fall on any date between December 20-23rd. This is because the Earth is never in the same spot each year.

Happy Eid-ul-Fitr! This holiday marks the end of Ramadan, a month where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, give to charity, and volunteer at local shelters or food banks.

Eid is a time to celebrate all the hard work done in Ramadan. Muslims dress up in their best clothes, give gifts, eat lots of yummy food, and spend time with their families.

This year’s Earth Day theme is investing in our planet. Companies around the world are trying to use less plastic and make products that are more biodegradable or earth-friendly!

There are many ways you can help protect the environment on Earth Day. Here are a few ideas!

• Composting and recycling items.
• Turning off the lights and the computer when you don’t need them.
• Growing plants in your garden or in your home.
• Recycle items around your home to make something new!
• Buying from places that make recycled products.
