Hello Koho and Dexter!
Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the Earth Rangers office. And it was AWESOME!
Earth Rangers is a non-profit organization inspiring kids to bring back the wild by protecting animals and their habitats. Earth Rangers is also home to some rare species, from a ball python to ring-tailed lemur. There were two Earth Ranger Animal Ambassadors that were my favourites. Let me introduce you!

Meet Koho, the bald eagle. Koho was born in 2003 and he’s named after his favourite food: Coho salmon.
Fun fact: bald eagles aren’t actually bald. White feathers cover their heads around two years of age, and they serve an important purpose. Their white heads break up the silhouette against the sky so that the eagle’s prey aren’t aware they’re hunting overhead.

It’s no surprise that one of my faves would be an owl! Meet Dexter, a barn owl. Dexter is a Latin adjective meaning “on the right hand side, skillful, fortunate, favorable, proper, fitting”. Which suits his personality!
Fun fact: a barn owl’s hearing is so good that it can hunt in total darkness. These owls also make no noise when they fly slowly through the night sky, so they’re silent predators.
